Was always intended. It was going to happen regardless because Oath/Verizon don’t think anyone wants to advertise on a site with porn on it. This is probably why they didn’t bother handling the porn bots and CP, since for the last 6-12 months they’ve been working to scrub the site either way.
Only then Apple took them off the app store, pushing up their timeline.
This was done for advertising reasons. Which also means this isn’t going to stop either. Give it 6 months and there’ll be some hit piece on Tumblr by whatever news outlet and they’ll purge something else. What will it be? LGBT themes? Political discussion? Copyrighted material (Fandoms)?
In the quest for more money, Verizon made it clear. Nothing is above sacrificing for the ad revenue. Don’t get comfy. You’ll be next.
