Due to tumblr’s TOS change that will effectively remove all nsfw content from this site, I’m planning to delete my blog.
I’m upset and frustrated considering how much work, time, and passion I’ve put into building a following here; I feel bad for the followers I have here that I know don’t want to make the switch over to twitter as well. I’ve been on this website for almost 9 years, but I can’t support a platform that is blatantly hurting it’s own content creators like this. This is a huge blow to so many of us and it’s incredibly disheartening.
I’m exploring other options (pillowfort does look pretty promising atm but it’s still under construction) but until then, please follow me on twitter; I post all my art there and have it organized a little through the Moments feature. All my other current links are here as well.
I’ll keep my blog here and updated until the purge goes through on Dec 17th, then I’ll be wiping my blog and will only leave links to wherever I end up re-locating my archive.
Tumblr is in a bit of a panic lately regarding policy changes. Due to the “family friendly atmosphere” Tumblr has expressed the desire to push, I predict our blog will be greatly affected. AnatomicalArt has always worked hard to be a source of educational anatomical reference material for artists (as well as providing artistic references for various other subjects). I predict that, if Tumblr’s changes go through our blog will be greatly limited in the kind of material we will be able to share in future, including reference material for life drawing and basic anatomy reference.
Our team only exists in one other place outside of Tumblr, our Discord server.
If you would like to continue your artistic Journey with us, please come join our server. It’s a community of artists, for artists, helping artists improve. We share tutorials, have a communal feedback room, have a general chat space, and post optional weekly art improvement exercises. Artists of all skill levels are welcome. Thanks for reading. Reblogs are greatly appreciated.
due to the chaotic state of tumblr at the moment and the disappointing direction staff is taking this website, i’ve created an instagram account for my chickens!
There will be no new bird posts on this tumblr, I’m so sorry! The project will be moving in full to Instagram.
For those who don’t know, I already have an Instagram- but it was mainly for promoting sales, posting process vids, and my other artwork. So it’s cleaned up now and ready to go.
Having to repost over 400 birds and keep them straight is going to be a nightmare, BUT it’ll be fun to see all the birds from 4 years ago. For those who haven’t delved into the depths of this blog, it’ll be a nice opportunity 😊
Scan the IG “nametag” above and it’ll take you to my Instagram, if you don’t know how here’s a link below:
Hey so @staff it’s really really shitty to flag as explicit a post about my gay uncle who died due to AIDS.
@staff this is unacceptable
Thank you. I didn’t even see a notification – I just came across it while I was scrolling through my blog to see if anything was flagged.
I’m honestly pretty upset about this. It’s also wild considering the history of the AIDS epidemic and how the US government censored PSAs about the epidemic to not mention gay men because it might be seen as endorsing “deviant” behavior. I’m not saying that’s why this was flagged, I’m just saying there’s relevant history here.
Wow. I’m so sorry this happened to your post.
When people ask what we’re so worried about with the new policy this is the answer.
When I was in middle school, I took commissions from classmates for drawings of Spongebob characters for about a quarter a pop. It was one of my first forays into “professional” cartooning, and only a small example of the monumental impact of this plucky underwater sponge.
I know I’m not alone in believing that the show has left an indelible mark on the face of cartoon and internet history, and its aftershock will continue for many years.
Rest in Peace, Stephen Hillenburg. Thanks for the good times.
technology related sensory memories from my childhood
sliding the metal cover on floppy disks
the slight resistance of inserting cassette and video tapes
ripping off the strips of holed paper off of dot matrix printer paper
rolling the wheel on a disposable camera to take another photo
The heaviness and rubber texture of the roller ball in a computer mouse, and the little ring of lint
Unkinking the curly cord of a telephone while you talked
The -peww sound and slowly fading image of a crt monitor turning off, and then running your finger through the static on the dusty glass
The crunch of opening or closing a plastic Disney vhs cover
The sound effects in kidpix
Extending and collapsing metal antennas and using them as magic wands
…God, it is so weird these things aren’t around any more. Cause it’s true, the sensations are so distinct. It’s bizarre to think about missing these tiny relics.
