Hey so,

I think this is my for real first post that I’ve made..like ever. But I’ve realized that I’m probably clogging up a number of people’s dashes with my, quite frankly, obnoxious posting of the Dec 17 nonsense. Sorry about all that. I’m going to try to be a real blogger now and actually tag it. The tag is probably fairly unique to me so that way it can be back listed. Again sorry for the absolute s p a m :/

The tag is another day another purge since this has been going on for…as long as I’ve been here. I am deeply saddened by this nonsense, not because of the ‘atrocious’ porn being banned, but because the real vile problems will stay. The n*zis, the child p*rn, the discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, and all the artists out there who are being nuked off the site -to name just the tip of the iceberg.

I doubt I’ll be jumping ship to a new hellhole, but I am keeping my options open. I know this outrage at losing all the p*rn seems like h*rny people being mad at not being able to get their rocks off, but is instead just an elaborate cover-up – a saving face act – for much deeper and sinister problems. And I’m sad about that. But hey, life goes on and I’ll hopefully see all of you around! I know a lot are migrating to other sites so you can bet your biscuits I’ll be writing down your usernames and new websites!

And I guess that’s it for now. I’ll try to tag all my previous spam of this saving face act and remember to tag the future ones as well! 🙂

If you’re wanting to show your displeasure, don’t just tag staff or support.  Take a page out of other consumer revolts and make sure your displeasure is known.

Don’t be an idiot.  Do not threaten, harass or otherwise make this personal.  Contact these companies, make your displeasure known, alert them that you are a customer and you will be leaving their brand across all boards unless they reverse their decision.

Be clear, be concise, be polite, but make your displeasure known.

New Info Will Be Added As I’m Made Aware Of It

Edit: This does nothing if it isn’t shared around

In case anyone may find this helpful, the following is the email I wrote.

It contains a little snark because that’s the way I roll. Remove or upgrade as you prefer.

To whom it may concern,

I would like to express my extreme displeasure and distaste for the recent changes you have made to your community guidelines.

It is very apparent that this was motivated by the removal of the Tumblr app from the Apple store. I appreciate that this gave you a new level of concern, and necessitated a response.

However, instituting a blanket ban on adult content on Tumblr is an absurd response. The problem lies with the abundance of porn bots and porn blogs on Tumblr – which your users, including many who produce art and fandom content classified as not safe for work, or NSFW, have been reporting for years.

If you had, at ANY point, done anything at all about the porn bots, the way I and countless other users have begged you to do for actual years – believe it or not, I don’t enjoy having to visit my every new follower and risk seeing a penis solely to ensure that porn bots don’t get validity by linking from my blog – this would not be necessary.

Instead, you are punishing your users of many years by banning their artwork and content.

History has shown very well that the most affected users will be minority groups. Content showing very innocent homosexual interaction has already been flagged by your new algorithm. And it will absolutely be abused, in exactly the way YouTube’s decision to flag all homosexual content as ‘Adult only’ has had horrible effects on young LGBTQI individuals who have lost access to resources and support. You will destroy Tumblr communities and support groups that have existed for years.

I am beyond disappointed in this shortsighted and reactionary response. I sincerely hope you reconsider.

Thank you for your time.

I have had 3 mineral posts flagged as adult content today. They contained a tourmaline, a muscovite, and a galena. On Friday I had 3 fossil posts flagged as adult content, including a fossil fish, a fossil tooth from a mastodon, and a Tyrannosaur vertebrae. I’ve submitted appeals for each. This has been getting worse over the past month, apparently most of geology content is now only for adults.

Apparently you can’t get your rocks off on Tumblr anymore.

i am contractually obligated to congratulate you on this reply

And now a warning about drafts

bogleech:

You ever write up a post you decide will be too controversial or embarrassing but leave it in your drafts to sleep on and then forget about it? How about real personal stuff you weren’t sure you wanted to share at the time? Heavy-ass receipts on bad shit you’re leaving there only just in case you’re forced to use them?

Well if any of your drafts get flagged by the new system, a mod can apparently see them in with all your other flagged posts, and if they un-flag them, it publishes them automatically as a brand new post. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
