So… I don’t even know anymore. I just kill time (I don’t have) with LoK sketches. Raziel as emo teen. Raziel as Disney princess. Raziel as rotting corpse (with sexy blue butt). Raziel as sceptical… Raziel being Raziel. I’m done…

proxis-shattered-expectations:

Old sketch I did a while back, found I did not post it!  Here is a little story

This game had been in my house for a long time, probably before I was even born, but it was one of the many old games my dad had kept with him.  It was only until recently that I stumbled upon it, and was told by my dad that it was one of the only games he had played on the playstation 1 that he had never finished, so that led to me wanting to try it out.  After watching the introduction, and also playing a little bit of the game…I was hooked.  I couldn’t stop, and immediately took interest in the dynamic character of the wraith Raziel.  His backstory, voice (Oh my god, don’t get me started with that voice), and almost everything about him had inspired me to do this.  Now honestly, I am not a huge fan on the lore of vampires, but with the kind of story that the game had, it made the experience of playing a game that had revolved around these bloodsuckers a much more enjoyable experience than I had first imagined (Also due to the worst introduction to vampires*Ahem- cough-cough- Twilight-cough*, I first assumed it was a game that wasn’t all it was cracked up to be).  But like most of the other times, I have been proven wrong once again.

I admit, it is a very old game, older than me, but that is what makes it better.  Because for an old game with boxy graphics, it has all the puzzles, mystery, ingenuity, action, story, and possibilities that make it one of the most memorable games.   Hope ya like!

Raziel belongs to Legacy of Kain franchise/ Crystal Dynamics

Raziel (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver; 2018)

Soul Reaver is, without a doubt, one of *the* most important video games to me. It helped me through some really rough times in my life when I was a young teenager, as a means of escape and catharsis with what was going on around me at the time; among many other things. Raziel is one of very few characters in general that have stayed with me throughout the years,

Sure, I enjoyed Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance just fine, but the first one, despite its flaws, will always have a place near and dear to my heart. It was a AAA game before AAA games were a thing, and set a high standard for me in regards to storytelling and pathos that very few games have ever come to close to since. It’s funny that I absolutely loathe a certain role playing dark fantasy vidya series, but absolutely love Legacy of Kain… but that’s another kettle of fish for another time/place.
