i propose an idea: cats can see into the spectral realm, either fully or with limited vision

Raziel can absolutely interact with cats while wandering as a spectre. they follow him around because he looks vaguely human and they want pets and/or snacks

he can provide neither, but he can play laser dots with them

Zealot paladin Raziel is such a mess!! Not only he didn’t recognize his own voice/self, but he also knew that Janos had never hurt a soul in his life (if you use a special camera in Janos’ aerie in the pc version, you can see he owned a big-ass blood basin to feed himself, so that means he never went out hunting). He fell into Moebius’ trap because he just couldn’t use HIS OWN BRAIN FOR ONCE. i’m sorry, i’m emotional about the human versions of Raziel and Kain ;_;

I am not that surprised that he does not recognize himself, even by his voice – I am not entirely sure if I would recognize myself, even if I saw myself as whole and complete. Wraith Raziel is in a quite sorry state as he is, and I hardly think his old, Sarafan self would ever see himself in such a light.

On the second point, I am not quite sure if he really does think that Janos was innocent. There was such conviction in his words when he condemned that old bird – I really, really wish we knew more about how exactly the Sarafans viewed vampires!

They are such, such well written characters q.q I am still not entirely over the fact that this is a story that exists and there are absolutely, completely unpredictable and yet absolutely fitting twists for each and every characters and it is so fuckign good, it makes me want to cry

I approve of your headcanon that cats can see Raziel in the spectral realm, we do say cats can see ghosts, so what would stop them from seeing Raziel? Plus the image of him trying to pet one is adorable

I think the first time where I read this lil thing on cats was in a children’s series that i never quite liked anyways – it was a tad too cynical for my tastes -, but this one aspect stuck with me – cats have special vision and they see stuff that is only visible on different planes.

The spectral realm is awful and echoes with the lost souls of the damned, but cats are just eerie enough creatures to valk on its edge, and even if they can’t interact with stuff, I just want them to give Raziel a wholesome time ❤

I do see many people love the idea of him and his clan adoring cats – I firmly believe that they would adore him and his kind right back, wether he’s in a corporeal and whole form, or a ghastly spectre with the shape of a burnt corpse.

Also just fucking imagine cats going ‘mrrp!’ at him when he shows up and they all just pad happily up to him and try to rub against his legs but they pass right through.

So then he evidently needs to manifest physically because cats must NOT remain unpetted.
